How can they talk you into buying Windows 7 upgrade it originally comes h; VIsta and the audio does not work? I have restored, several times. I am beginning to believe that some of this hardware is not Windows 7 compatible.

I installed the chipset driver, video driver, ethernet driver, and sound driver in that order, however I could only download the Vista version since they do not make a Windows 7 version.
Shut down the PC. There are a few that state Base System Device see below for hardware Id'sa co-processor, and an unknown device. I have been working on this dc9700 well over 6 hours, banging my head against the wall I paid over 2K for this thing less than 3 years ago.

Soynd Pavilion DV, no audio output device installed. Information and links in this thread may no longer be available or relevant. Right-click the speaker icon on your taskbar B. Do you see icons for your sound device now? If HP doesn't have Windows 7 drivers, try the Vista drivers. If you now see it you may need to right click on the correct sound device souns select "Set as default device".
I have already replaced the hard drive once because of their over heating issue.
